stoneandsteel > Home away from home four weekends in a row, May 2009. North Entrance of Crater Lake. When you're done skiing, that road is perfect for running and rolling. Great training base camp.

stoneandsteel > Looking up the North Entrance access road. It's a very easy skate in to the rim. About 10 miles. On the way down, it's a rocket ride. Get it when it's frozen.

stoneandsteel > North Entrance to Crater Lake. This road is groomed for snowmobiling in winter. All this snow melted in a few weeks in May.

stoneandsteel > Crossing the Pumice Desert heading up. Wide open cruising. 5:30 AM.

stoneandsteel > Frozen 'bile tracks across Pumice Desert, with Thielsen in distance.

stoneandsteel > Early in the cycle. Totally smooth surface. Looking north toward Thielsen from Crater Lake rim. Pondering a five mile downhill of perfect crust. Pumice Desert way down below.

stoneandsteel > Several weeks into the cycle, the surface is no longer as smooth. Looking up toward rim from near Red Cone.
